A real Highland wedding at Aswanley near Inverness, this was my first wedding of the year, and turned out to be a cracker. Laura & Innes are a young couple who had great support from a community of family and friends joining together for a celebration to rival all others.
A friend provided the Ford, one of the oldest cars I’ve seen at a wedding, to collect Laura from the cottage on the Aswanley estate to the converted barns where the ceremony and reception would happen. The farm was recently converted to a wedding venue and looked fantastic with all the decorations and hand made flourishes that were still being worked on late into the night before.
Laura is a dance teacher and after the ceremony her students were waiting to perform for the couple in a routine that included the flower girl. The dancing continued in the evening with this Highland crowd putting us Lowlanders to shame when it came to the Ceilidh. It took a while for the band to realise that no calling was necessary to get this party going.
