One of the most picturesque settings for a wedding you could imagine is Dirleton Kirk in East Lothian, a short drive from Edinburgh. Dirleton is a beautiful little village with castle ruins, one of the best beaches in Scotland nearby, and of course, the classic looking kirk.
Julia was getting ready at Gilmerton House, which I’d never come across before – it always amazes me how many grand homes are hidden away just out of sight – and after the ceremony we were back there for portrait and group photographs as the guests made their way back for the reception. The weather was good enough to make use of the grounds as the string quartet played from the French windows. The wedding breakfast and evening entertainment was in the marquee where the girls ambushed the first dance with a surprise routine.
I like particularly how Julia is so obviously loving every minute of the day. It was a great, fun atmosphere with lots of energy which you can see in the pictures.
